What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state of relaxation coupled with mental focus. It is not a sleep state. In a hypnotic state our conscious mind is bypassed so the subconscious or unconscious mind can receive suggestions for the positive changes necessary to achieve the desired outcomes. Hypnosis as a treatment method has been approved by the AMA and the British Medical Association since the 1950’s. Today the use of hypnosis is seen in a variety of fields including: medicine, dentistry, professional sports, law enforcement and education.
How does hypnosis work?
The mind works on two levels, the conscious and the unconscious, also known as the subconscious. We make decision, think and act with our conscious mind. The subconscious mind controls our habits. In the relaxed state known as hypnosis, we can communicate directly with the subconscious mind where we can quickly and easily shift old habits, negative thought patterns and beliefs into positive ones.
Will hypnosis work for me?
Nearly every person is hypnotizable. This includes about 95% of the population and excludes infants and those with severe mental disturbances.
How will I know Iif I am hypnotized?
Most people cannot tell the difference between the hypnotized state and a waking but relaxed state. Sometimes they are uncertain if they were hypnotized until they realize the inexplicable changes occurring in their daily behaviors.
Is hypnosis safe?
Hypnosis is completely safe. Everyone goes in and out of a light hypnotic state many times a day. You are aware and in control and can terminate the session at any time. You cannot get “stuck” in a hypnotic state and you cannot be made to do anything against your will. Hypnosis is a safe, relaxing and enjoyable experience.
